We are often tasked with enhancing Victorian homes through a side return extension. Our Barclay Road project shows how a small intervention can be transformational.

With existing side access directly to the dining room, our first goal was to create a sense of arrival. We introduced a larch timber ‘wrap’ providing much needed space for shoes, coats and life necessities. The use of timber became a consistent theme – external cladding, furniture and flooring – providing unity.

A concealed pocket door, U-shaped kitchen design and bespoke dining bench form purposeful spaces within an open plan arrangement. Frameless sloped roof glazing allows light to fill even the deepest spaces, and L-shaped corner glazing captures the sunlight moving through the day, with views across the garden.
