The delivery of a brass clad, floating entrance portal to the Sir Joseph Hotung gallery at the British Museum.

Working in close collaboration with the contractor, brass panel fabricators and the museum, Native North developed careful detailing which offered a light touch solution within the Grade I Listed building.

The portal is constructed on a light weight steel frame with cladding rails avoiding visible fixings. The brass cladding, created through a patination process, is wrapped around CNC cut mdf panels. The portal provides accessibility to split levels with an integral platform lift.

Works also included coordination of recessed blinds and ventilators to sensitively provide modern environmental climate control to the historic building.
